"Γεια σας" from Greece!

This week in our Expedition Earth studies we "travelled" to Greece.  First thing was to stamp their passports and locate the country on the map!  Greece is about the size of Alabama.

They learned how to write "hello","thank you", and "I love you" in Greek

They had fun dancing to the song this week from "Wee Sing Around the World"

They colored a Greek flag

They put together their animal mini books and added the animal cards to the wall classification chart!

They colored a paper doll from Greece

They also added the country label to the Continents poster

This week for our Missionary studies, we read about Jonathan Goforth.

And getting ready for Christmas they helped decorate our tree
and we are doing a daily advent calendar!

Some other things we did this week:
  • Read about a child from Greece
  • Prayed for the country
  • Watched YouTube videos of Greek dancing!
  • Read about the Mediterrean Climates in our Usborne Encyclopedia
  • Learned a little about Greek Parthenon
  • Played a game of "War" with our GeoCards.  Each would flip over a country card and the person whose country had the largest population got to keep all the cards from that round!
αντίο (goodbye) for now.  Next stop is a week of Christmas around the world!

"Bonjour" from France & "Ciao" from Italy

This week in our Expedition Earth studies we travelled to two countries!  First stop was France and then onto Italy.  I want to squeeze as much in before Christmas as possible...just to make sure we are at a good starting place after our break!

To begin our week they stamped their passports and found France on the map!

They listened to the "Wee Sing Around the World" song for France and had fun dancing!

They learned how to say "Hello" and "Thank you" in French.

Did a Flag and Mapping activity.

And put together their Animal mini-books and added to their Animal classification chart.

They also had fun making homemade soap!

Other things for France was:
  • Pray for the Country
  • Learn about the Eiffel Tower
  • Learn about a child from that country

For Italy they started out stamping their passports and finding it on the world map.

They did a flag and map activity.

And of course dancing to an Italian song from "Wee sing around the world"

Learned to write "Hello" and "Thank you" in Italian

Put together their animal mini books and posted pictures onto their wall classification chart (one of my children missed out on this because of attitude)

They added both of the country labels to the Continents wall poster too.

This week for our Missionary activiy for George Mueller, they made a picture of an orphan to remind them of all the orphans that whose lives he made a difference in.

Other things done for Italy were:
  • Pray for the country
  • Listen to some Italian Opera
  • Read about Volcanoes in the Usborne Encyclopedia
  • Looked at pictures of the Leaning Tower of Piza and the Roman Colosseum
It was a fun week in both these countries.  "Merci" and "Grazie" for stopping by! Next stop is Greece!
